The Pluto Scandal

How many planets are there?

Pluto... Planet no more
Have a good think, and while your at it, you might want to consult the International Astronomic Union. The reason? Today at a meeting of the union it was voted that the former planet, Pluto, be demoted form its title to the less prestigious of "Dwarf Planet", leaving our solar system with 8 planets.

This move has been talked about and debated for years and the Astronomical community has finally removed Pluto from it's historical status as a planet.

"This is about definitions of planets as we observe them today," Richard Binzell a member of the union said today. Essentially, due to Pluto’s size and consistency of mainly ice, it falls out side of the category of "Planet".

So next time someone asks you how many planets there are, you might have to check the definitions first!

I just like the name Pluto. Maybe we should rename Earth to Pluto...

Pluto was a good planet, always had a kind word to say about the other planets, it's not right it was kicked out of the Solar System.
Maybe Earth should abdicate in protest, then Pluto and us can start up our own club!

So Pluto is now a dwarf, making eight dwarfs. Eight dwarfs and eight planets, thus creating symmetry as in the famous Howard Keel musical, "Eight Dwarfs for Eight Planets"

Of course, we are all wondering: where does this leave Mickey Mouse? In the gutter, where he belongs.

I've always stood by the fact that there should've either been 8 or 10 planets in the Solar System rather than 9. Either you discount Pluto as a planet (which they've finally done) or you count Charon as a planet too... Charon isn't a moon, it actually rotates with Pluto, rather than around it!

About pluto... i like the article... but i think i have to reconsider the information ... lately, it was too much debated that they found

an extra planet, it was called Planet X ... and now they say pluto is leaving because it is an ice ball shape not a planet...

Anyway, astrology is the miuch debatble science .... the scince of the unknown ... u study the vague of space ... nothing is permenant correct

May be sun decide to move too ....

Remember when they said mars will hit earth ... it was about the 1998 or later ... they predict it is the end of the world , however, God proved
them all wrong by changing the course of mars & making it Slip a side not to hit Earth....
