Forcible separations and outings
Aceh Lesbians Warned 'We Could Behead You'
Really Long Link
The Islamic police force unique to Aceh province, on the northern tip of Sumatra, warned the couple before they were forcibly separated that under Islamic law they could be beheaded.
This is such a sad and stupid situation that I can hardly bear to comment. We should immediately send a task force to Bandah Aceh to rescue all gays and lesbians and fly them to Australia forthwith.
And we would have to pay their government a think. Just send them the bill for the aero fuel.

Is Tim Cook gay? Does it matter? If he hasn’t said, does it matter he’s been outed?
The world is full of headlines about ‘most powerful gay in America’ and ‘most powerful openly gay man in the world’. But Tim Cook, who has stepped into the not-quite-dead-mans shoes of Steve Jobs at Apple, has never actually admitted being gay.
There’s been lots of scutttlebut, and lots of well-substantiated rumour, but no proof.
Does it matter whether he’s gay or not? Does it matter that he hasn’t admitted it?
As to the first, I think it does. Barack Obama being the first black man to run the US – albeit not terribly well – mattered hugely. The divided and excluded were suddenly included, right at the top level.
Tim Cook’s elevation to head of the second biggest company on earth is of similar import for all those GLBTI folk toiling in the vineyards of capitalism.
Neither race nor sexuality is in any way relevant to their talents and abilities. That doesn’t mean they’re not important.
My only problem is this: Tim Cook should now come out and claim his crown as Queen of Silicone Valley. Otherwise it’s aid and comfort to dreary buttoned down closet queens everywhere.
Sense Wins Out

Speaking of Obama, thousands of same-sex married couples now have hopes of staying together in the U.S. thanks to a change in deportation policy. The government says it will now prioritize deportations, giving lower priority to those with families in the U.S.
And the Obama administration has included same-sex couples in its definition of family.
This is simply plain sense. If they’re married – and they are, legally – then they’re in. If not, not. The rest is just hair-splitting.

The sad and sorry zombie saga of the ALSO Foundation limps on. More flesh fell off last night when the CEO, Crusader Hillis, was forced to bow to the inevitable and resign his salary – though he will still be around, lending a hand.
The cause of this latest catastrophe is the same as the last one – the legacies held in the members fund. ALSO voted to grab the dosh in August, but unfortunately the law has other ideas. I understand that the monies can’t be released except for the purposes for which they were originally willed. Which means that a court ruling will be needed to get the funds out of bondage. And we all know how long that sort of thing takes.
Best guesstimate is they might get the moolah in November – if the court agrees.
