Current Affairs - The opinions of a grumpy old pouf

Political Mud Slinging - Please Get Back To The REAL Issues

The Brian Burke scandal has claimed the jobs of three Western Austraklia government ministers and it also the claimed the scalp of Federal Human Services Minister and senator, Ian Campbell over the weekend as the Federal Government continues to sling mud at the Opposition leader, Kevin Rudd about his dealings with the corrupt former West Australian premier.

There is no doubt that Mr Campbell was made to be sacrifical lamb of this whole thing so that the government could continue to attack Mr Rudd over his dealings with this premier, in the hope that the mud they are throwing will stick to the squeaky clean image of the new Opposition Leader, who up till now hasn't put a foot wrong and is seen to be winning over the Australian people which is frustrating the Government to no end but don't think for a second that it is only the Federal Government throwing mud around in the hope that it will stick, the Opposition are also doing their fair share of throwing mud and hoping it will stick as well with Mr Rudd calling for the Government to come clean on Iraq and the number of other issues that he believes that the Government hasn't be honest on.

Both sides of Federal politics have handled this non issue extremely poorly in my belief a
Oh well, looks like it going to be another campaign asking the question who do you trust?

I think what the Australian people want to know is: when are both sides of Federal Parliament going to focus on the real issues such as water, the drought, health, education and national security...aren't they issues that people will be voting on not whether someone had dinner or breakfast with a shady character, politicals are always going to have dealings with shady characters so why is this such a big deal in the federal arena when we really should be discussing the economy, health and education among other things.
