Freshly Doug Thursday July 30
This week it's the Labor Party national conference in Sydney, and the push is on to get the delegates to adopt a policy supporting equal marriage.
"Christian" groups are lobbying hard to prevent the issue even being debated, and most Labor pollies are running scared, claiming they are too busy to talk about it.
Kevin Rudd arrogantly pre-empted the vote by saying nothing would change, whileTasmanian Labor Premier David Bartlett - whose party voted to support equal marriage - is 'fully booked' and unable to comment, and Attorney General Robert McClelland didn't even call back.
Star reporter Harley Dennett is at the conference and will give us an analysis of what's going on, while Matthew Loader of Rainbow Labor - -the cross-factional GLBTIQ group within the party - gives us the insider view.
And Greens Senator Sarah Hanson-Young will talk about her Equal Marriage bill and the Senate inquiry which closes Friday - she's calling for Rudd to grant a conscience vote.
The Green Queen will tackle the knotty problem of how to be an ethical consumer.
I'll spend an hour Digging Deeper with gay supermum Felicity Marlowe, the driving force behind Love Makes a Family.
And we'll attempt the difficult feat of covering a host of visual issues on radio with Deputy Lord Mayor of the City of Melbourne Susan Riley - from the Film Festival to designs for city benches and lampposts!
