FRESHLY DOUG THURSDAY DEC 02 2010
Only four shows to go before I take a rest for the Summer: the last show this year will be on December 23rd and then I'll be off the air until April. So, after all the razzamatazz of the election(s) [yaaawn] we get back to business this week, catching up with our correspondenhts around Australia and the world.
COREY IRLAM
Well, that was the election that was: we voted Baillieu in, Brumby out, and didn’t do a whole lot for the Greens or the Sex Party. We’ll take a good look at politics in Canberra and Melbourne with Corey Irlam from the Australian Coalition for Equality.
RODNEY CROOME
Meanwhile the marriage juggernaut rolls on. Latest convert was Heather Ridout, the CEO of the Australian Industry Group. But we have to keep the pressure up, and this weekend Rodney Croome will be running some workshops to show you how.
HOMES FOR OLDER LESBIANS
You may remember last week we had some angry words from a dissident member for the ALSO Foundation over their failure, as he saw it, to fulfil their core duty, to take care of elderly gay Australians like him. He didn’t make it onto the ALSO Board, but two of his supporters did, so maybe we’ll start seeing some changes there.
In the meantime one of my guests, Jeanette Large, the CEO of the Victorian Women's Housing Association, is working where ALSO fails to tread, developing property in Brunswick with the Matrix Guild for older, financially disadvantaged lesbians.
WORLD AIDS DAY WRAP
Yesterday was Worlds AIDS Day – Chair of the Victorian AIDS Council Michael Williams gives us a rundown.
MAKING CRIME PAY WITH LINDY CAMERON
Lindy Cameron is a publisher and author of lesbian crime fiction, as well as a great fan of Lucy Lawless. What more reason do I need to welcome her as my special guest for an hour on Digging Deeper at 10.
ANDREW POTTS IN SYDNEY
Now that we’ve put all that election business behind us for a while, we can catch up with some of the regulars. Andrew Potts from the Sydney Star Observer will join us with all the latest from the paper.
HARLEY DENNETT IN WASHINGTON
And our Washington correspondent Harley Dennett will be calling with the latest on the Palin Family and Don’t Ask Don’t Tell – will Obama finally be able to keep his promise to the gay community?
