On Freshly Doug this week, making it easier to volunteer, the queer bits of the fringe, parliament gets under way, and more. Nine till Noon every Thursday on Joy 94.9 in Melbourne or streaming on the net.


VOLUNTEERING
Without volunteers most gay community organisations wouldn't exist. Now the government is pitching in to hook organisations looking for help up with potential volunteers, sources of finance and more. A new website with the slogan, ‘I Can Do That’ has been launched and Lily D’Ambrosio, the Victorian Minister for Community Development tells us about it.

DIGGING DEEPER
We’ll be Digging Deeper with Rod Swift this morning. Rod has been the convenor of Gay & Lesbian Equality WA for many years, and WA spokesperson for the Australian Coalition for Equality, but now he’s moved to Melbourne. Rod Swift, at 10.

CITY ROUNDUP
Andrew Potts, lead writer of the Sydney Star Observer has the latest from this week’s edition, while Melbourne Community Voice editor Andrew Shaw delves into the queer bits of the Fringe Festival with a look at productions and performances with a GLBTI tinge.


And our new hung parliament has opened and we’re starting to get glimpse of how the so-called new paradigm will work, if at all. And who better to tell us that our own Canberra insider, Corey Irlam.
