Freshly Doug Thursday September 24
SPECIAL GUEST BRETT HAYHOE
As always between 10 and 11 I spend an hour with someone special and today’s guest has a voice that’s like being dipped in hot chocolate and honey, so it won’t matter if he talks nonsense. Not that he ever does: he’s the elegant, erudite and articulate former head of PLWHA and the President of Pride March Victoria Brett Hayhoe.
SENATOR RACHEL SIEWERT
You may remember a couple of weeks ago I had a rather evasive interview with Leonie Young of beyondblue, about that organisation’s lack of action on gay and lesbian issues – until pressure began to be applied in recent times. They’ll be just one of the bodies whose performance will be under scrutiny from a senate inquiry into suicide prevention efforts. Greens Senator Rachel Siewert will be our first guest.. If you’d like to ask her a question, SMS 0427 JOY 949 during the show. You can also Twitter @freshlydoug.
ON THE SPOT REPORT FROM EX-GAY CONFERENCE
Last week you may remember we spoke to Tim Wright about a planned protest against the so-called ex-gay movement that was holding a conference in Mitcham last weekend. Former Rainbow Report Producer turned Freshly Doug reporter Bianca Johnston was there and met some of the participants and protestors, and brought back a report.
EQUAL LOVE NOVEMBER PROTEST
NEW JOY GENERAL MANAGER
And some news about Joy – last night the Board met to appoint a new general manager. Joy President Stephen Duns will be bringing him, or her, along to say hello at around 11 o’clock.
PLUS . . .
And we’ll have our usual conversations with Susan Riley, Deputy Lord Mayor of the City of Melbourne, Will Conyers, man of the theatre, and Chris Chinchilla from the Green Renters.
That's all on Freshly Doug, Joy 94.9, streaming live at www.joy.org.au/listenlive , Thursday Sep 24 from 9 till Noon.
