Doug Pollard is a veteran gay journalist, columnist, commentator, and broadcaster specialising in GLBTI issues, based in Melbourne Australia. He often works with Rob Mitchell of the RJM Trust, "We are separate independent and unaffiliated guerilla campaigners and advocates, and the best of mates: nimble, fast-moving, unconventional and above all aiming to drive rapid change", he says.

Welcome to the penultimate Freshly Doug of the 2010. Next week will be the last show for a while, as I’m taking a break over the summer season. This week - HIV up among young men, queer greens, an old fashioned socialist, defending the leakers, and more. 0900-1200 Thursday 16th December of Joy 94.9FM Melbourne and live online at http://www.joy.org.au/listenlive.

RISKY SEX
Some rather disturbing news from the Burnet Institute – HIV is on the rise among young gay men, who appear more willing to take sexual risks and so become infected with the virus earlier. Carol El-Hayeck from the Burnet Institute tells us all about it. Report: Really Long Link

QUEER GREENS
The Victorian Queer Greens have struggled to remain a separate group within the party. Dinesh Matthew joins us to tell us about it, and the Green presence at the upcoming Midsumma Carnival.

'TIS THE SEASON TO BE JOLLY
Digging Deeper this week talks to the man who probably helped keep the Greens from winning a seat in Richmond. Local councilor Stephen Jolly is that rather rare breed, an elected official proud to wear the label Socialist, and he joins me at 10. Really Long Link

SEX PARTY BACKS LEAKERS
Story of the week, the year, and probably the decade is Julain Assange and Wikileaks. Fiona Patten leader of the Australian Sex Party says the correct government response should be more openness and transparency, not more secrecy. http://www.sexparty.org.au/

TASMANIAN ANGEL
We got what sounds like some good news from Tasmania, with the government announcing the appointment of a GLBTI suicide prevention officer. But details are in short supply. Susan Ditter of Working It Out explains. Really Long Link

LEGAL EAGLE
Paying a welcome return visit, Kristina Antoniades from Nicholes Family Lawyers – she’s just presented a paper on the issues around parenting for Gay Dads Alliance. We’ll find out how it went. http://www.nicholeslaw.com.au/

BIZARRE, MISS SERA
And last but very much not least, my old friend Kaye Sera will be taking some time out of her very busy schedule to bring us up to date with what’s happening at he bizarre establishment, and what it’s like to be a Midsumma hub. http://www.kayesera.com/

NEXT WEEK
All on Freshly Doug this week. Don't forget Freshly Doug's Christmas Cracker next Thursday, the final show of the year!
