Freshly Doug for Christmas Eve
Well, it’s Christmas Eve, Bah Humbug, so whether you’re in the bosom of your families somewhere interstate, or some more recently acquired bosom in, say, Bangkok or Bali, welcome to the show – because you are streaming us, aren’t you? And a special Christmas Aloha to those of you listening in Hawaii, especially my sister-in-law in Pearl City.
And of course a merry whatever to all of you who are xmassing with your gay friends and family here in Melbourne.
We have news from ChillOut Festival, with President Adam Wright – despite a last minute hitch with their event management, the show will go on.
And I’ll be talking to Electronic Frontiers Australia about exactly why the internet censorship software Senator Conroy plans to bring into force next year is a dumb idea that doesn’t work, as well as being dangerous.
We did invite Senator Conroy to put his side of the story too, but we didn’t hear back from him. Maybe he’s off in Bangkok personally checking out some of that naughty material he wants to ban.
Scott Abrahams, the editor of Sydney Star Observer, joins us to look back at life in the Emerald City this year, especially on the Yellow Brick Road known as Oxford Street, and looks forward to the arrival of a new money saving three in one anti-HIV pill coming to Oz in the New Year.
There’s Greeness with Cate, and theatricality with Will Conyers, as usual.
But Will has rather more to do today – he has the unenviable job of interviewing me. Yes, this week we go Digging Deeper into me today between 10 and 11, which should be interesting. I can almost remember what that used to feel like . . . . . .
As always, please feel free to join in with your thoughts, or even just to say hi.
