RED DUST
Daniel Witthaus has reached Albany on his anti-homophobia tour and found an organisation dedicated to helping young people come out in their true colours.
BEYOND THE BLUES
Because we are consistently treated as second class citizens, depression is unfortunately commoner in our community than we would like.
But we seem to have hit a brick wall in trying to convince beyondblue of that, having been almost entirely overlooked in their latest guidelines for the treatment of depression.

HAVING A BLUE
Word is that the strength of reaction to their gaffe is making them think again – however, to date, clear thinking hasn’t exactly been their strong suit when it comes to gay issues. So let's see if we can help.
The LBGT Health Alliance, as the only national health related organisation, is co-ordinating a community response to the somewhat befuddled depression giant: Gabi Rosenstreich will join us to explain what’s being done.
BEYOND BLUE MOVIES
Another woman who knows a fair bit about depression is filmmaker Barbara Karpinski, director of movies such as Single Sexy Bilingual and Night Trade. In her latest projects she’s turning her attention to the subject of depression.
She finds it "incredulous, bewildering, bizarre that beyondblue would even question the fact that gay [depression stats] are way above the national average."

A TOUCH OF PINK IN YOUTH WEEK
But not everything is depressing. It’s National Youth Week, a celebration of all things young. This year the Victorian representative ambassador is Joy's own Micah Scott – he joins me along with the Victorian Minister for Youth Sport & Recreation, James Merlino.
MARDI GRAS FEELING BLUE
Not very surprising news from Sydney Mardi Gras – they lost $400k dollars this year, wiping out about a quarter of their reserves. But there was remarkably little recrimination at the EGM last week – according to Scott Abrahams, editor of Sydney Star Observer and Southern Star, who was there.
BLUE ROSETTES
We complete our little excursion into the blue wing of politics this week as Tim Wilson from the Institute of Public Affairs takes the pink seat (as the Age called it), as my special guest on Digging Deeper. That’s at ten.
TALES FROM THE GREEN ROOM
And of course will round out the show with a look at the world of theatre with Will Conyers.
