In 2001, David Matthew Hicks went to Afghanistan and conducted military training with al Qaeda linked camps, as well as linking up with the Taliban.
While overseas, Hicks wrote several letters to his family. These letters contained disturbing thoughts on the western world, confessions of meeting Osama Bin Laden, and his capabilities with extremely dangerous weapons.

The person I feel most sorry for out of all this is David Hicks' father, Terry Hicks. He has seen his son turn into a terrorist. He seems like a normal Australian parent, who just wants to protect his son, as all parent do. But unfortunately, David is a grown man, and made some very poor and dangerous decisions, which he needs to be accountable for.
