Daniel Witthaus as his anti-homophobia tour hits Geraldton, which sounds like a pretty rough place – in 2006 the police decided to tackle the high rate of burglaries by bringing back mounted police. Not sure how that worked, but I’m sure the horses were happy. Follow Daniel here

Dramatic developments in the US as gay servicemen and women lose patience with Barack Obama and chain themselves to the White House fence – it appears that ‘yes, we can, but not yet’ is the new catchcry. They are frustrated with Obamas refusal to use his executive powers to end Don’t Ask Don’t Tell. Our Washington correspondent Harley Dennett has the story.
