FRESHLY DOUG THURSDAY FEBRUARY 25
EQUAL MARRIAGE BILL
Greens Senator Sarah Hanson-Young will lead a Senate debate on her bill to extend Marriage to same sex couples. And you can play your part in this process by calling Kevin Rudd (02) 6277 7700 & Tony Abbott (02) 6277 4022 asking for a conscience vote on the Equal Marriage Bill Thursday arvo.
TV TONIGHT
Between 10 and 11 I spend an hour with someone special. This time I’ll be talking to someone whose voice will be familiar to longtime Joy listeners, that ultimate television insider, David Knox of TV Tonight. He joins us at 10.
BEYOND 'THAT'S SO GAY'
We promised you a couple of weeks back that we would be following Daniel Witthaus as he travels round the country with his new book on tackling homophobia in schools: he joins us with his first report from his old home town of Geelong.
NOT SO STRAIGHT
Support for young same-sex attracted young people also comes from Family Planning Victoria, through their YAK program. FPY have made a feature length film called Not So Straight, which launches next week. Mark Camilleri of FPV joins us in the studio.
UGANDA
And we have a report from our sister show on US radio, This Way Out, about the situation in Uganda, where the government is considering a bill that would introduce the death penalty for homosexuality.
THE REGULARS
Andrew Potts from Sydney Star Observer and Southern Star tells us all about research into the evolutionary mechanisms that may conserve ‘the gay genes’, and about the newly announced Relationships Register in NSW.
There’s an appeal from Alie Jalbert, the manager of the RSPCA animal shelters, for partners to make a ‘Pawfect Match’, and Will Conyers brings us up to date with local theatre news.
